Fancy style with cigars

A cigar is a tightly rolled bundle of dried and fermented tobacco which is ignited so that its smoke may be drawn into the mouth. The cigar is a common symbol of wealth, power, and sophistication. Cigars are considered to have a higher class compared to ordinary cigarettes. Until now, cigars still maintain a strong elegant image.

There are two main types of cigars: the first is made with a single type of tobacco, called "puros," and the second is made with a blend of different types of tobacco, called "blends." Puros are typically made in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and other countries in Central and South America, while blends are more common in the United States and other countries.

Cigars are made from the leaves of the tobacco plant, which are harvested and then cured through a process of drying and fermentation. After the tobacco leaves have been cured, they are sorted by color, type, and quality. The best leaves are reserved for the outer layers of the cigar, while the lower-quality leaves are used for the inner layers.

To make a cigar, the tobacco leaves are first peeled from the stalks and then carefully rolled into a cylindrical shape. The cigar is then wrapped in a tobacco leaf or a piece of paper to hold it together.

There are a variety of cigar sizes and shapes, including the classic "corona" shape and the larger "Churchill" shape. The size of a cigar is measured by its length and its diameter, which is called the "ring gauge."

Cigars are often enjoyed by smoking them slowly over a while, sometimes lasting for an hour or more. They are typically enjoyed after a meal, with a glass of brandy or whiskey, and are considered a leisurely and luxurious activity.

Savor Cigar : Tips

Enjoying cigars is a ritual that requires special time. Generally, one cigar takes 30 to 100 minutes. It's no wonder the broadcasters will prepare a special time when they enjoy it. In contrast to cigarettes, the correct way to smoke a cigar is not to reach the lungs, because the purpose of a cigar is to feel the pleasure of the aroma of tobacco. Here are some tips on how to savor a cigar:

1. Choose the right cigar for you: There are many different types of cigars to choose from, ranging in flavor, size, and strength. Consider your personal preferences and try different cigars to find the one that best suits you.

2. Prepare the cigar: Before you light up, it's important to properly prepare your cigar. Cut the cigar's head (the end you put in your mouth) using a cigar cutter or a sharp knife. Be sure to cut just enough to create an opening, but not so much that the cigar falls apart.

3. Light the cigar: Use a butane lighter or a wooden match to light your cigar. Hold the cigar over the flame, rotating it slowly to ensure an even burn. Avoid touching the flame to the cigar itself, as this can cause the cigar to taste bitter.

4. Puff slowly and evenly: Take your time as you smoke the cigar. Puff slowly and evenly, allowing the smoke to fill your mouth before exhaling. Savor the flavors and aromas of the cigar as you smoke.

5. Pair your cigar with a drink: Many people enjoy pairing their cigar with a drink, such as a fine whisky or a cup of coffee. Experiment with different combinations to find the one that works best for you.

6. Relax and savor the experience: Smoking a cigar is meant to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. So take your time, sit back, and savor every moment of it.

Habanos SA Announces Price Increase To Distributors

In the summer of 2022, Habanos SA moved to global price standards resulting in Cuban cigars around the world becoming more expensive, even though some of them are quite expensive to more than double the price.

Habanos SA informed its distributors that it would implement these price increases starting on January 1, 2023; some have not required the specific price increases disclosed; besides that in general, it has implemented increases earlier in the year.

Habanos S.A. commissioned its distributors to determine how to implement the related price increases that retailers and consumers will see.

One of the Romeo y Julieta brands will experience a 10 percent increase, like the global brand Habanos. The 10 percent increase will also be applied to the Bolivia, Punch, Ramon Allones and Quai d'Orsay brands.

Consumers will see price increases vary based on various markets, as some countries require to register prices with the government and publish them before changes are made.

Representatives from Laguito 1492, which distributes Habanos SA products in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg,  said the new prices are expected to take effect on April 1.

Germany is telling its customers that prices will be adjusted from Jan. 1, with an average increase of 5.8 percent. The company cites Robusto Vitolas as significantly lower. The company also announced not to add super premium brands, namely Cohiba, Trinidad, Montecristo Línea 1935 and Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro. The "entry-level" brands of JL Piedra, Quintero, and Vegueros will also not increase.

Habanos SA says its global pricing standards will be introduced early in 2023, meaning that Cuban cigar prices around the world will be adjusted to prices in Hong Kong, which has a higher cigar tax than markets such as Germany, Spain and Cuba itself. Global pricing is similar to other luxury goods, such as watches or branded bags, but due to tobacco taxes and other considerations, prices will continue to vary from market to market.

This is the information we can provide for you. It will always be updated when a lot of information is available. Hopefully, this will not affect your enjoying your beloved Habanos SA products.

It's not the era of ordinary cigarettes, let's try El Gaucho cigar

Cigars are tobacco products that are burned and inhaled through pipes. The cigar comes from the word Sikar, a Mayan diction meaning "to smoke a roll of tobacco leaves". One of the inventions from which this cigar originated is the discovery of a Guatemalan urn – estimated to date from the 10th century. On the urn, there is a painting of a Mayan who inhales a roll of tobacco leaves.

Indonesia occupies the second position as a tobacco producer after Cuba. It’s not surprising considering that the natural potential in Indonesia is so great. This earned Indonesia the nickname a Promising Land by cigar makers from Cuba. Another term in their language is La Tierra Prometadora.

There are several cities in Indonesia whose main commodity is tobacco, one of them is the city of Jember which has the nickname Tobacco City. Many quality cigars are produced in this city, such as El Gaucho which is produced by PT. Besuki Raya Cigar. El Gaucho has two types, namely El Gaucho Premium and El Gaucho Fantastico.

El Gaucho is the first cigar in Indonesia to have a box shape.

"So the shape of the box is if structurally, the airflow is better. So, when smoking the cigar it’s not hot even though it’s short." Said Mr. Fatkhur Rohman, Product Development PT. Besuki Raya Cigar  Company.

This cigar has a long process that requires perseverance. Starting with the stripping process – the process of removing tobacco leaf bones, to the drying process at a certain temperature which takes about 3 days to produce quality cigars. This drying technique is called slow drying which uses a temperature that is not too high, but the time is long.

"So if we use the fast drying technique, the cigar can be cracked or broken." He said.

The importer inaugurated the brand for Brazil, having this exclusively developed product is the long-standing dream of every connoisseur of cigars in the Brazilian market, but due to the minimum units to manufacture it is always a barrier.

If not Jember, where else? Find the best tobacco only in Jember city

Jember is a city in East Java, Indonesia. The city is located in the northwest of Java Island, along the Brantas river. The city is bounded by Bondowoso Regency and Probolinggo Regency in the north, Lumajang Regency in the west, Banyuwangi Regency in the east, and the south bounded by the Indonesian Ocean.

Jember is known as the city of Tobacco. The city has a long history of gunshots and cigars. Around 1850, George Bernie started to plant Besuki Na Oogst (BNO) type tobacco after obtaining business use rights in the Jenggawah area. Bernie is a Dutchman of Scottish descent. Bernie's tobacco plantations are usually marketed in Europe. In the process, Bernie brought in workers from Blitar and Madura Island.

Currently, there are two types of tobacco commonly grown in Jember, namely Besuki Na Oogst (BNO) and Vor Oogst (VO). Na Oogst tobacco is generally grown in the southern Jember region. Usually, the tobacco is used as a dressing, binder, or wrapper as well as a cigar filler. While Vor Oogst is usually planted in the northern Jember region. In 2017 the export value of Jember tobacco and cigars reached Rp 1.5 trillion with a total production of around 8 thousand – 9 thousand tons per year.

The city of Jember also has some places to enjoy tobacco. Some places provide various types of tobacco such as black tobacco, white tobacco, along with tobacco-related equipment, such as pipes, cigars, and cutting tools.

Until now, most of the people of Jember still have tobacco plantations. This is the forerunner of the birth of the trademark of the city of Jember as the "City of Tobacco". If you look at the logo of Jember Regency, there is also a tobacco leaf which symbolizes that Jember is known as one of the largest tobacco commodity-producing regions in Indonesia.
